We want to ensure that conditions for ageing in the municipality are exemplary. Access to good healthcare in the municipality is a fundamental prerequisite for a thriving community.
We must continue to support the Kirkjuhvol nursing home and explore options for more nursing places. With the VISS workplace and new housing solutions, tremendous progress has been made in supporting our most vulnerable residents.
- Strengthen VISS operations in Hvolsvöllur. Increase job offerings and extend opening hours
- Increase consultation with HSU about strengthening healthcare in the area
- Activate and strengthen the senior citizens’ council in consultation with all stakeholders
- Continue improving accessibility throughout the municipality, to buildings and outdoor areas
- Continue development around Kirkjuhvol, including plots for 60+ residents and potential social facilities for senior citizens
- Begin preparations for expanding Kirkjuhvol
- Work on building a rescue centre in Hvolsvöllur with all emergency responders
- Improve and expand transport services, e.g. for senior citizens
